Foo fighters and Gorillaz figures from fun with extraordinary album

Record Store Day, a time in 2011, all higher figures this year, topping sales of Foo fighters and Gorillaz figures from fun with extraordinary album.

According to the Official Charts Company sales of physical singles through independent record stores were more than doubled last year and total album sales were 20 per cent.

Foo Fighters album title 'Medium Rare' proved to be the most popular vinyl album closely followed by Gorillaz' 'The Fall' album which was originally released in the form of a free download for fans on Christmas Day.

Record Store Day co-ordinator Spencer Hickman said: "Record Store Day has been an overwhelming success. It seems to have struck a chord with artists, labels and music fans alike. It is now one of the most significant music events of the year."

Nearly 180 shops and 250 special release on April 16 this year participated in Record Store Day were available in participating shops.
